Welcome to the New Bern Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (NBAMPO) official website. The NBAMPO is comprised of The Town of Bridgeton, portions of Craven County, City of New Bern, Town of River Bend, Town of Trent Woods, and the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) in cooperation with the various administrations within the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT). The MPO participates in a Continuing, Cooperative and Comprehensive ("3-C") transportation planning process in the New Bern Metropolitan Area as required by Section 134 (a), Title 23, United States Code.

Upcoming Transportation Advisory Committee Meeting May 29th starting at 3:30 in the City of New Bern Development Services Conference Room located at 303 First Street, New Bern, NC 28560. Virtual attendance is also available.

The 2024-2033 Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program (MTIP) identifies state and federally funded transportation investments within the New Bern Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Area.
Amendment 15 adds a new project at the MPO level to add sidewalk along Glenburnie Ave from College Court to Greenway Parkway. This Amendment will enable transportation projects to continue to move through the planning, design, right-of-way, and construction phases. Public comments will be received through May 20, 2025.
