Welcome to the New Bern Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (NBAMPO) official website. The NBAMPO is comprised of The Town of Bridgeton, portions of Craven County, City of New Bern, Town of River Bend, Town of Trent Woods, and the North Carolina Department of Transportation in cooperation with the various administrations within the U.S. Department of Transportation. The MPO participates in a Continuing, Cooperative and Comprehensive ("3-C") transportation planning process in the New Bern Metropolitan Area as required by Section 134 (a), Title 23, United States Code.

Division Needs Local Input Points
New Bern MPO is seeking public input on the assignment of local input points for the Division Needs category for Prioritization 7.0. Local input is the assignment of points that will influence the overall project score’s ranking. The draft list of projects has been reviewed by both the TCC and the TAC. Per our Local Input Methodology, this list must be available to the public for comments before a final recommendation is made. Public comment is currently underway for the draft recommendation of the assignment of Division Needs local input points from October 24 - November 20, 2024. Amendment 12 to the 2024-2033 MTIP - Public Notice
The 2024-2033 Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program (MTIP) identifies state and federally funded transportation investments within the New Bern Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Area. Amendment 12 modifies funding for the statewide system safety oversight grant for NCDOT Rail Division. This Amendment will enable transportation projects to continue to move through the planning, design, right-of-way, and construction phases. Public comments will be received through November 20, 2024.
