2021 Transportation Appropriations and COVID-19 Relief Package

On Sunday, the President signed the emergency relief and spending package. In addition to providing the USDOT with the remainder of its 2021 appropriation, the legislation also provides billions in relief funding for transportation related provisions.

2021 Transportation Appropriations:

  • BUILD Grants - $1B

  • Transportation Demonstration Program - $100M (grants to maritime port authorities or former military airports classified as general aviation)

  • Highway Obligation Limitation - $46M (same as last year of FAST Act)

  • Highway Extra General Fund - $2B

    • $1.08B for bridge replacement and rehabilitation

  • Amtrak - $2B

  • FRA CRISI Grants - $375M

  • Airport Grants - $3.350B

  • Airport Extra General Fund - $400M

  • Transit Obligation Limitation - $10.8B (same as last year of FAST Act)

  • Transit Extra General Fund - $516M

  • Capital Investment Grants - $2.014B

Coronavirus Relief Supplemental - Transportation

  • State DOTs - $10B

  • Public Transportation - $14B

  • Airports - $2B

    • $1.750B primary airports

    • $45M general aviation airports

    • $200M sponsors of primary airports

  • Amtrak - $1B

  • Aviation Workers - $15B

  • Aviation Contractors - $1B

  • Bus & Ferry Operators - $2B
