Railroad Crossing Intermittent Closures between James City and Havelock

Norfolk Southern will be replacing rail over a stretch of the existing line between New Bern and Havelock.  The work is scheduled for December 7 through December 23, 2020.

You will begin to see new rail laid out along the railroad beginning on Monday, October 19th.  As a result, up to 16 existing railroad crossings will be blocked intermittently between James City and Havelock.   The crossing surfaces will be rough to cross for a few months until permanent pavement or surface material can be restored, likely in early 2021.

The crossings impacted include: Brownsville Road, Williams Street, Airport Road, Grantham Road, Private Crossing, Taberna Way, W Thurman Road, Camp Kiro Road, Riverdale Road, 2 Private Crossings, W Fisher Road, Catfish Like Road, Private Crossing, Pine Grove Road, and SR 1826.

Please contact Johnny Glass, Norfolk Southern Track Supervisor/Roadmaster with any questions: 864-426-1330.
